PRESS RELEASE

NetBIT, a business unit of ENI Networks, is revolutionizing business connectivity in Mexico with Ciena's next-generation routing and switching technology.

The strategic alliance between ENI Networks, Braxem and Ciena implements one of the first next-generation business networks in central Mexico, setting a new standard in comprehensive telecommunications solutions for companies.

QUERÉTARO, Mexico, November 19, 2025 -- NetBIT , the enterprise services unit of ENI Networks, today announced the launch of its new enterprise offering in partnership with Ciena , a global leader in high-speed connectivity, and its partner Braxem . This collaboration marks the first commercial deployment of passive optical network (PON) access technology that will help drive digital transformation in the Mexican enterprise market, starting by further strengthening connectivity technology in the Bajío region, one of the most advanced telecommunications areas in the country.

The new infrastructure, which will begin operations in November 2025 in Querétaro and San Luis Potosí, represents a significant investment in Ciena's latest generation solutions, including 5164 and 3924 routers, and PON access technology, including Ciena XGS-PON pluggable devices and 3800 family ONUs. This implementation makes NetBIT and ENI Networks the first Mexican operator to use a topology based on distribution nodes in the areas of interest, which will allow the incorporation of other services aimed at the business market.

Benjamin Martinez Zazueta, General Director of ENI NetworksHe commented: "Our collaboration with Ciena and Braxem allows us to take a technological leap and offer Mexican companies infrastructure that was previously only available to large multinational corporations. We don't just offer connectivity: we democratize access to the technology that drives the transition to the fifth industrial revolution. Our approach goes beyond traditional internet; we offer comprehensive solutions that combine fiber optic connectivity, high-capacity microwave links, managed cybersecurity, Wi-Fi network management, and real-time monitoring, all under a 'one-stop shop' model for technological needs. The customization capabilities we offer, using modular components that can scale according to each client's growth needs, completely differentiate us from the rigid offerings in the market."

Digital transformation of the Mexican business ecosystem

The implemented solution utilizes an advanced network architecture, with active distribution nodes that integrate the new technology into an MPLS transport network. This configuration enables automatic redundancy between the fiber optic connection and wireless links, achieving switching times of less than 50 milliseconds and network availability of up to 99.99%—critical characteristics for enterprise applications such as cloud-based ERP systems, real-time applications, HD videoconferencing, and artificial intelligence solutions.

The target market includes medium-sized companies with 25 to 50 employees seeking solutions that go beyond traditional connectivity, covering key sectors such as manufacturing, emerging fintech, educational services, and technology companies in Mexico.

Global technological innovation adapted to the Mexican market

The implementation of NetBIT in Mexico replicates successful models from operators in Canada and the United States who have leveraged Ciena's routing and switching solutions to transform regional markets. Ciena's optical access technology allows NetBIT to scale cost-effectively to demand, significantly reducing space and energy consumption compared to traditional chassis-based approaches.

"Ciena's fiber optic technology is helping NetBIT and ENI Networks redefine enterprise connectivity in Mexico," said Carlos Hernández, Senior Director, Account Management at Ciena. "The convergence of IP/optics and PON in our architecture gives innovative operators like NetBIT the ability to simplify their infrastructure, optimize costs, and at the same time deliver resilience and reliability."

Building strategic alliances

The collaboration with Braxem, Ciena's authorized distributor in Mexico, has been fundamental to the project's success. "NetBIT is the visionary operator the Mexican market needs," commented Heriberto Zelaya, General Manager of Braxem Mexico. "Their focus on combining cutting-edge technology with personalized service and technical consulting capabilities sets a new standard for the industry. We are proud to support this significant advancement for Mexican businesses."

Regional Impact and Growth

The NetBIT-Ciena project is specifically designed for key sectors in Mexico, including the automotive industry, advanced manufacturing, financial services, and emerging technology companies. The new infrastructure has the potential to directly impact the competitiveness of more than 50,000 medium and large companies.

The launch in Querétaro and San Luis Potosí is the first phase of a regional strategy that includes the integration of multiple fiber optic networks acquired by ENI Networks. The company plans additional expansions to extend coverage in Northwest Mexico, in cities such as Navojoa, Ciudad Obregón, Hermosillo, and in the Southeast, in the Cancun-Tulum corridor, where it already has 100 Gbps infrastructure under implementation.

"This alliance isn't just about technology; it's about building Mexico's digital future," Benjamín concluded. "With Ciena and Braxem, we are creating the infrastructure that Mexican companies need to compete globally in the age of artificial intelligence."
